Questions
Setup, training, billing and your data: 25 questions, each answered in a few lines.
Getting started
What is Velox?
Velox turns your Garmin running data into analytics and coaching: training plans, race predictions, run-by-run analysis and injury-risk alerts, in one place.
Do I need a Garmin watch?
For the analytics and coaching, yes. Velox syncs runs and wellness data from your Garmin Connect account, and connecting takes about a minute. Run clubs don’t need one: anyone with a free account can join a club and say they’re going to its runs.
Which Garmin devices are supported?
Any device that syncs to Garmin Connect: Forerunner, Fenix, Venu, Vivoactive, Epix and more. If your runs show up in Garmin Connect, they’ll show up in Velox.
How long does setup take?
About a minute. Your runs import within a minute or two of connecting, and their maps and splits fill in over the next few hours.
Is there a free version?
Yes. The free tier is the full analytics side of Velox, for good: dashboard, run details, charts, route maps, records and health tracking. Coaching is part of Pro.
Is there an app?
Velox runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet or desktop. You can add it to your home screen; there’s no app store download.
Can I run with a club on Velox?
Yes, for free, and you don’t need a Garmin to join. Find a club near you on the clubs page, or start one for your group. Organisers post the week’s runs and members say they’re going. Members who run with a Garmin can add their run to the results afterwards.
Training and coaching
How are the training plans made?
From the Daniels VDOT model, calibrated to your VO₂ max and recent training. The paces and the weekly volume ramp are computed; the plan is then laid out week by week with warm-ups, intervals and long runs.
Which race distances can I train for?
5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon. Give Velox your goal race and date and it builds the plan toward race day.
Will it work for my level?
Yes, from Couch to 5K, for runners starting from nothing, to a marathon PB. Paces calibrate to your actual fitness, plus a quick self-rating when you’re new, so the training is pitched to you.
Can I send workouts to my watch?
With Pro, yes. Structured sessions go to your Garmin calendar, and the watch guides each interval with pace targets.
How accurate are the race predictions?
They’re computed from your VDOT with the same physiological model coaches use, not guessed, and each distance carries a confidence rating based on your data. They sharpen as you log more runs.
Does the AI make up the numbers?
No. Every pace, prediction and load figure is computed by Velox’s own maths. The coach is handed those numbers and writes the explanation around them; it is never asked to calculate.
What is the injury-risk alert?
Velox tracks your acute-to-chronic workload ratio, this week’s load against your recent baseline, and flags when you’re ramping up faster than is safe.
Billing
How much does Pro cost?
$12.99 a month or $129.99 a year, which works out at $10.83 a month (17% less). Prices are shown in the currency you’ll pay in, which follows the country you’re in. Every subscription starts with a 7-day free trial, and you can cancel any time.
How does the free trial work?
Pro starts with 7 days of full access. Your card isn’t charged until the trial ends, we email you three days before it does, and if you cancel before then you pay nothing.
How much of my training plan does Pro show?
Anyone can build a plan and see its whole shape: every week’s distance and every session’s day and type. Pro shows each session in full (distance, steps and paces) up to the day your subscription runs to. Monthly unlocks the month ahead, and the next as it renews; yearly unlocks the year ahead; the 7-day trial unlocks those 7 days.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, in one step from your account page, at any time. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for. In the 14 days after your first payment following the trial, or after a yearly renewal, cancelling also refunds the unused days.
What happens to my data if I downgrade?
Nothing is lost. Your runs, history and analytics stay exactly as they are on the free tier; only the coaching features switch off.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly?
Yes, from your account page, whenever you like.
Data and privacy
Is my Garmin password stored?
No. It’s used once, in memory, to create an access token and then discarded. Only the token is kept, encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.
Is my data safe?
Your Garmin token is encrypted, your Velox password is stored only as a bcrypt hash, and your private pages are kept out of search engines. Your data powers your analytics and coaching, nothing else.
What does my running club see?
Your name, whether you’re going to a run, and the distance and time of any run you add to its results. Never your route, heart rate or the rest of your data, and nothing from runs you don’t add. A club’s own page and its runs are public.
Do you sell my data?
Never. We don’t sell or share your personal data.
Can I export or delete my data?
Any time. Your account page downloads everything Velox holds about you as one file, and deleting your account permanently removes your runs, health data and personal details from Velox.
