1Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Velox (the “Service”), operated by Velox (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You must provide an accurate email address and keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account, and should tell us promptly about any unauthorised use.

3Garmin connection

Velox is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Garmin. We sync data from your Garmin account with your authorisation. We never store your Garmin password, only an encrypted access token used to fetch your data, which you can revoke at any time by disconnecting.

Because this connection is unofficial, Garmin may change or restrict it at any time, and syncing may be interrupted or stop working without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to your Garmin data.

4Subscriptions, trials and billing

Velox offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription ($12.99 a month or $129.99 a year, charged in the currency shown for the country you’re in, including any sales tax or VAT). Pro is sold through Polar, our reseller and merchant of record, which processes your payment, issues receipts and handles tax; Polar’s own terms also apply to the purchase. A new subscription begins with a 7-day free trial, one per account; unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription renews automatically at the then-current price for successive billing periods.

We remind you by email before you are charged: three days before a free trial ends, seven days before a yearly subscription renews, and, on a monthly subscription, seven days before a renewal at least once every six months. Polar sends the trial and yearly reminders and your receipts; we send the monthly ones.

You can cancel at any time, in one step, from your account page, or by telling us at hello@velox.run that you want to cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting your account cancels your subscription immediately.

Cooling-off on renewal. For 14 days after the first payment that follows a free trial, and for 14 days after each renewal of a yearly subscription, you can cancel and get back what’s left of that period: Pro ends at once and we refund the unused days in proportion to the period’s price. We email you on the first of those days to say when the 14 days end. Outside these periods, and except where required by law, payments for partial periods are non-refundable. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

5Coaching features and no medical advice

Paces, predictions and load figures are computed with established physiological models; the written plans, analysis and notes around them are produced with AI. All of it is provided for general information only and is not medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting, changing or stopping any training programme, particularly if you have a health condition or injury.

6Your content

You retain ownership of the data you provide and import (your account details and Garmin data). You grant us a limited licence to process this data solely to operate and provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

What you post for a run club (its description, runs, meeting points and sessions) is public unless its organisers make the club unlisted or private, and messages in a run’s chat are seen by the club’s members. You are responsible for what you post, and you grant us a licence to display it on the Service for as long as it is there. Meeting points must be public places; never post a private address or anyone else’s personal details.

7Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempting to access it in unauthorised ways, disrupting it, reverse-engineering it, reselling it, or using it to break the law or infringe another person’s rights. Clubs must be real running clubs: no spam, advertising or misleading pages. We may remove a club, a run or anything posted in one that breaks these Terms.

In particular, you must not post or share anything illegal, or anything that harasses, bullies, threatens or abuses someone, stirs up hatred, shares someone’s private details or intimate images, sexualises or exploits anyone (above all a child), promotes terrorism, fraud, drugs or weapons, or encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. Pornography is not allowed anywhere on the Service. Don’t use a club, its chat or its runs to contact or meet someone for any purpose other than running together.

8Keeping people safe

Velox is a service where people share content with each other, so the UK Online Safety Act 2023 applies to it. This clause explains how we protect you from illegal content and, because people aged 16 and 17 may use Velox, from content that is harmful to children.

How the Service is built. There are no private messages. A run’s chat is text only and seen only by the club’s members; nobody can search for a person, and you see other runners only inside a club you’ve both joined. Your profile photo is shown to your clubs only if you choose to show it. We assess the risks of these features before we change them.

How we find harmful content. We rely on reports from runners and on club organisers, who can remove any message in their club’s chats. We don’t use automated tools to scan or filter what you post. Velox’s own moderators review every report, and we take illegal content down as soon as we know about it.

What we may do. Depending on how serious it is, we may remove a message, run or club; hide a club from public pages; or suspend or close an account. We remove accounts run by or on behalf of a proscribed terrorist organisation. Where someone may be at risk of harm, or the law requires it, we may report it to the police or another authority. When we act against you, we tell you why where we can (by email, or on the club’s page for a hidden club), unless doing so would put someone at risk or break the law.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 (or your local emergency number). Velox is not an emergency service.

9Reports, complaints and appeals

Reporting content or a person. Use the Report link on a club’s page or a group run’s page, under any chat message, or under a club’s member list. You’ll be told when your report has reached us. We aim to look at every report within two working days, and sooner where someone may be at risk. The person or club you report is never told who reported them.

Everything else, including if you don’t have an account. Email hello@velox.run about content on Velox that affects you, a report you think we got wrong, how we handle any of this, or any way we fall short of what this clause or the Online Safety Act promises. Please say what it’s about and include a link if you have one. We reply to every complaint, usually within five working days, and tell you what we did and why. We may not act on complaints that are clearly abusive or that repeat one we have already answered.

Appeals. If we removed something you posted, hid your club, or suspended your account, and you think we were wrong, email hello@velox.run within six months and tell us why. Someone who didn’t make the original decision, where possible, will look at it again. If we got it wrong, we will put it back or restore your account, and let you know.

Ofcom regulates online safety in the UK. It doesn’t resolve individual complaints, but you can tell it about a service’s safety at ofcom.org.uk.

10Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design and content (excluding your data), is owned by Velox and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding.

11Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Garmin (data source), Polar (payments), Anthropic (AI) and, if you choose it, Google (sign-in). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for their availability or actions.

12Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for any injury or outcome arising from your training decisions, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Pro in the 12 months before the claim.

13Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, or where necessary to protect the Service or other users. You can appeal a suspension as clause 9 explains.

14Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will tell you about material changes through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that, if you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in your country of residence.
